PAETEC, McLeod Win FCC Merger Blessing Dec. 6, 2007 (Vol. 28, No. 24) The FCC approved PAETEC’s acquisition of McLeodUSA on Nov. 27. Fairport, N.Y.-based PAETEC first announced that it had reached an agreement to buy McLeodUSA on Sept. 17 [VR 9/27/07]. The merger is expected to close in the first quarter of 2008. The marriage will give PAETEC presence in 47 states and the District of Columbia, 3.4 million access line equivalents in service and $1.6 billion in combined annual revenue, making PAETEC one of the largest CLECs in the country.
