Area Code Update: Oregon

Jan. 1, 2009 (Vol. 30, No. 1)

The North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA) has announced an overlay for the 541 area code in Oregon.

An NPA is exhausted when all the available NXXs in that area code are assigned.

A “split” occurs when a portion of numbers in an existing area code are assigned a new area code. An “overlay” is an addition to an existing area code in the same geographic region. “Permissive dialing” – when both the old and new area codes are active – is possible between the effective date and the mandatory date.

For complete area code database, visit www.ccmi.com/neb2.html or call Voice Report customer service at (888) 275-2264 and select option 1. (
