Title: Associate Editor Employer: Voice Report Nickname/Alias: I wish I was cool enough to have a nickname or alias...
Podcast: Meet Colleen Stewart What I'm Best Known For (in the Telecom World): As of right now, the new girl who everyone has to translate all of the acronym-speak for. Hopefully this will change soon … Other Primary Areas of Expertise: (Hopefully) picking up an entire industry’s lingo and nuances faster than anyone thought possible. Outside of the telecom world: swimming (and coaching it), singing, music in general, the TV show ‘Lost’ and Harry Potter. Summary of Professional Background: B.A.- English, business and technical writing, University of Delaware in Newark, DE; Internship with the Food and Drug Administration’s outreach department; Internship with IQ Solutions Inc.’s creative department; Technical Editor for Supply Chain Consultants; Reporter for Write Now, the University of Delaware’s English Department Alumni Newsletter. Prediction on the Future of Telecom & Telecom Managers: From what I have learned so far, it looks like telecom is definitely going towards an increasingly open platform world where voice and data becomes merged. Telecom managers will have to learn how to create and manage applications that their companies can use, while keeping security in check, as well as learning both evolving voice and data technologies. Weirdest Thing People Usually Don't Know about Me: My feet are more narrow than anyone I have ever met. When I'm not talking or doing something in relation to telecom, I'm usually... spending time with friends and family, working out or singing. Book and author I'm currently reading: The Prestige by Christopher Priest. CD currently or most recently in my car stereo: My iPod playlist hasn’t diverted from Nickel Creek or Chris Thile in about a month. Blogs I follow regularly: Ones written by my friends mostly, and ones containing ‘Lost’ theories when the show is on. The stupidest thing I've ever seen anyone do or say in relation to a phone: I have personally ruined three cell phones by dropping two in the pool while cleaning the bottom of it, and most recently, by putting one through an entire wash cycle in my pants pocket. |
