Nickname/Alias: Ronnie What I'm Best Known For (in the Telecom World): TEM Management, Wireless Management, and a library of often useless Telecom stat trivia. Other Primary Areas of Expertise: Ron is a former CPA. He previously was the finance controller for GE Capital and Western Savings. Ron is also known in some circles as the original “web marketing guru,” having launched many successful online companies, starting as early as 1996. (Unlike Al Gore, however, Ron does not however claim to have started the Internet). Ron also was responsible for launching the original Saleslogix CRM product in the late 90’s. Summary of Professional Background: Ron started his career as a controller in the banking and finance industry. Realizing there was an opportunity to sell software online, in 1995 he launched one of the first online storefronts offering software sales (39 in the finance category). After selling his online software sales company, Ron was part of the launch team that released the first Saleslogix CRM product, taking the product from private to public IPO during his tenure. Saleslogix was subsequently sold to Sage Software. Ron then joined Telesoft Corp. to brand and launch a suite of TEM products intended to facilitate all of an enterprise’s needs. Prediction on the Future of Telecom & Telecom Managers: IT has and continues to absorb Telecom at a rapid pace. Over the next five years, the “phone guy” will morph into the “computer guy.” The challenge for telecom managers continues to be doing more with less. The ongoing increase in wireless demand has left many telecom managers with less time, yet they retain the obligation to sustain high results. There is a natural progression to outsource whenever possible, as they find it growing more difficult to manage a decentralized, growing infrastructure.
