David Schofield's Rap Sheet

David Schofield

Title:  Director of Wireless Mobility
Employer:  Thompson Advisory Group, a service of Alsbridge
Nickname/Alias:  Dave

What I'm Best Known For (in the Telecom World):

Trend analysis

Other Primary Areas of Expertise:

Contract negotiation, fixed mobile convergence

Summary of Professional Background:

More than 20 years of telecom experience on each side of the table: buyer, seller and advisor. Global manager of WAN; enterprise account executive for a large carrier; and have advised approximately 100 companies in the last three years with TAG.

Prediction on the Future of Telecom & Telecom Managers:

More outsourcing of tactical services, help-desk related. TEM will continue to consolidate and may morph into outsourced help-desk services. Pricing pressures will continue as the carriers run out of new subscribers. If pricing does not change, I see the carriers providing more services at the same monthly charge.

Weirdest Thing People Usually Don't Know about Me:

I am an inventor of electrical Christmas and outdoor decorations.

When I'm not talking or doing something in relation to telecom, I'm usually...

with the kids at one of their sporting events.

Book and author I'm currently reading:

Outliers – Malcolm Gladwell

CD currently or most recently in my car stereo:

Mark Schultz collection

Blogs I follow regularly:

Voice Report and a variety of LinkedIn groups.

The stupidest thing I've ever seen anyone do or say in relation to a phone:

Try to dry out a BlackBerry in cooked rice.
